Gerald Dimitri Smith
Known as one of the most versatile saxophone players, Gerald has been "blowing away" audiences for decades. By his 17th birthday, he was on the road, playing professionally in Indiana, Chicago, and New York, including the historic Apollo Theater. Gerald also played for local Midwest bands: The Soul Perfections, Wingnuts, and Merging Traffic. Through the 80's, Gerald's horn could be heard on recordings with Betty Wright, Timmy Thomas, and Jimmy Cliff. Gerald played with and backed K.C & The Sunshine Band, Eddie Kendricks, Rufus Thomas, David Ruffin, The Moments, and Clarence Carter. He settled in South Florida and formed The Gerald Dmitri Band, who was the PACE/Southern Bell Jazz Showcase Artist, and went on to open for George Benson, Chaka Kahn, Richard Elliot, David Sanborn, Huey Lewis, Patrice Rushen, Gil Scott-Heron, B.B. King, The Yellow Jackets, Kenny Loggins, Gladys Knight, Grover Washington Jr, Ramsey Lewis, and Pat Methany. In 1993, he released his first solo CD, "Sunshowers".
In 2009, Gerald responded to God's call to play for Him. Gerald left Miami, to come back to the Midwest and collaborate with his childhood friend and fellow musician Eric Fearman, formerly of The Kinsman Dazz Band, and now Pastor of Ambassadors For Christ, Cleveland OH.
In 2012, Gerald, the prophetic minstrel of praise, released his first Gospel CD, "My Offering".
Along with his wife and ministry partner, Gerald formed In Spirit and In Truth Ministry and Holiness Now Productions. Currently, he continues to play in Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania, as well as writing and recording new music.
